About Chalkset

Most study tools store a fixed list of questions. Once you have seen them twice, you are testing your memory of the answers rather than your ability to work the problem. Chalkset generates the problem instead.

What a generated set is

Behind each generated set is a small program that picks new numbers, works the problem through symbolically, and writes both the answer and the full solution. Open the same set ten times and you get ten different problems with the same method underneath. There is no answer key to memorise, because the answer key is computed fresh each time.

This matters most in subjects where the method is the skill: differential equations, calculus, linear algebra, physics, chemistry stoichiometry. It matters less for vocabulary, so Chalkset also supports ordinary question-and-answer cards, written by hand, imported from a file, or drafted by an AI agent from your own notes.

Why the answers can be trusted

A study tool that teaches you a wrong method is worse than no study tool. Every generator ships with a test suite: each one is run hundreds of times looking for malformed output, and the great majority are independently re-solved with a computer algebra system, so the answer the site shows is checked against a second, unrelated derivation. Generators that fail do not ship.

This is not a claim of perfection. If you find a problem where the stated answer is wrong, please write to asarrett@chalkset.com with the section and what you got — it will be fixed and the test suite extended so it cannot come back.

Statistics that mean something

A multi-part problem where you got three of four parts right is not a failure, and scoring it as one is how study apps end up telling you nothing. Chalkset scores every part separately, so the accuracy number reflects how much of the method you actually have. From that it ranks your weakest topics, draws a practice calendar, and estimates readiness against the exam dates you enter.

What it is not

Chalkset is a practice tool. It is not a homework service, and it is not for use during an exam, quiz or assignment where outside help is prohibited. Many courses explicitly forbid AI assistance on graded work; that is between you and your instructor, and the rule is worth reading before you rely on anything here.

Chalkset is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any university, textbook publisher, or course, and its content is written from scratch rather than reproduced from any course's materials.
